Conventional Foods, You’re Fired!

A few weeks ago, I interviewed Executive Chef Frank Brunacci and the Director of Food and Beverage, Philipp Posch of Trump International Hotel & Tower. These gentlemen were instrumental in the facilitation of this unique certification. You see the Trump International Hotel & Tower® Chicago made a critical announcement that they will now be the first luxury hotel in North America to offer a certified organic, in-room dining menu. This is such a big deal because it is the first time that this kind of organic certification had been issued. To boot, it was done in accordance to the organic standards by Oregon Tilth Certified Organic (OTCO) which is an internationally recognized symbol of organic integrity. OTCO provides a system that combines strict production standards, on-site inspections, and legally binding contracts to protect the producers and buyers of organic products. Oregon Tilth is also a nonprofit research and education membership organization, dedicated to biologically sound and socially equitable agriculture.

Guests can enjoy Executive Chef Frank Brunacci’s award-winning cuisine that is now certified organic! It is the ultimate culinary experience for guests that wish to indulge in the new In-room dining menu while staying at Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago!

I have been asked by many people on Twitter, Skype, email, etc., if this is a legitimate certification or just some kind of fancy certificate that can be bought. The certification obtained was something that a whole team of people worked really hard to get. It is not something that you can simply purchase.

For those of you that missed the live show, here is the link to the actual podcast of the show.

This is something people who demand organic should be very happy about because thanks to the Trump Organization, the bar has been set. Hotels, restaurants, resorts, etc will see the same value now that Trump International Hotel & Tower® Chicago did. Organic is here to stay!

Take a look at some of these delectable dishes created by Trump Chicago. They are part of the menu! Are you hungry yet?

  1. Hi June, Great post!
This is very timely for the organic health awareness era we’re living in, very cool, indeed! 🙂 It’s great to see more and more hotels becoming environmentally-friendly and organic-minded! It’s wonderful and it gives me hope!

  2. Hey there 🙂 I just found your site. I liked Gwendolyn’s interview and thought she was really great. So much more to learn about organic!

I really hope that more restaurants will go organic now. This is great news. Glad to know things are changing for the better!

  3. Thanks for the clarification of organic certification. It certainly isn’t something you just run out and pick up. Oh, and the next time you talk to Executive Chef Frank Brunacci, tell him the pictures of his creations are fabulous and I can only imagine they are super delish! Good thing I’m not holding a fork. Could have easily stabbed my PC screen!

  4. Hi there I live in West Valley City, Utah. I had to stop and comment on your blog. Thank you very much for sharing the scoop with us. It did make me also wonder and it is nice to learn about what people go through to get the certification. Thanks!

  5. I am extremely impressed with the show. It has taught me a lot about what it is involved. Apparently, Trump lives up to his name because he hires the best. The chef really is something else. It figures he is from the Ritz Carlton! Nice to see these guys actually care about the local farmer.

Keep up the nice quality writing. It’s rare to see a nice site like this that offers truth for a change.

  6. I thought this was also a rumor as well. Thank you for clarifying this and for explaining that this is a good thing. I just figured it was something that if you had the bucks, you could get it to attract new visitors.

The food looks really good. Many blessings.

  7. This is an impressive certification process! Wow!! But it all just proves that hard work is showing (organic) fruits!

Learning about Trump’s team going through a lot of trouble for this, I truly feel honored and know I made the right decision to be an official sponsor of The Organic View.

Not only does the Trump team offer a healthy and life-enriching experience, they also really go the extra hundred miles to meet their guest’s requirements. This is simply outstanding.

As a coach, I keep saying to my clients that excellence really is not so much in the a big innovative idea only, but in all the hands that are being coordinated in a concentrated effort of constructing something from start to finish, with lots of little action steps just adding up, when the plans are implemented. Thumbs up for Trump’s team who do this with great care and dedication. This can be observed here very clearly.

Looking forward to personally testing and tasting the in-room organic culinary delights… and who knows, perhaps Oprah calls me next week, so that we can all celebrate the event with a toast on writing organic history in Trumps’ Tower Chicago.

I make it my intent to be there 😉 with or without Oprah… and here is to more Z.I.N.G. from The Organic View –

  12. Whilst I visit the States, I will visit Chicago. It was nice to see how they went about doing this and that Trump’s hotel was not effected by the egg debacle. Smart move to keep it local and organic. Congratulations and best wishes for even more success!

  13. The entire story is really interesting. You would think it was just some marketing thing but it is far from that. I like how both men are not even Americans but have made a change here. What a great impact! More people need to step up to the plate!

  14. I thought it was a smart idea to actually get the information from the people who wanted this certification. It just goes to show that if you work for a company that really values your input, that things can change on a broad scale. This was so delightful to listen to. I intend to visit Chicago one day and will stay at the hotel. It sounds really lovely. It is really important that the Trump Hotel is also supporting local organic farms. Excellent show!
