Can You Get TSS From iTampons?

It is a very personal subject that most women either choose to laugh about or continue to remain mortified at the thought of anyone finding out that it is “that time of the month!”  I think this video really does a great job of summing up a woman’s sentiments when it comes to feminine hygiene products.

The Road Trip

Back in my twenties, I remember heading up to Vermont for a ski trip with some friends.  I remember stopping for gas at this little convenience store that was off the beaten path. It was the first gas station that we found after driving around in circles for about an hour. To my surprise, the guy behind the register was absolutely hot and quite charming.  Apparently, his family owned a chain of convenience stores and that is what lured him to Vermont. He shamelessly flirted with me in front of everyone while he talked about the skiing conditions that year and how he gives lessons on the weekends. In his humble opinion, although the powder was fresh it was a great year to try boarding because it was simply the greatest thing since sliced bread!

All of a sudden, my friend that was driving stormed in to pay for the gas. She nagged about how late it was getting and that we were taking too long.  Not even a minute later, she was honking the horn as though it were a dire emergency. I was the last on line and figured I would savor these last few minutes of flattery. To my dismay, I remembered that my wallet was packed with my gear. I therefore had to utilize my “secret reserve” which was a $20 bill that was hidden in a secret pocket inside my bag. As he continued to talk about his plowing techniques, I reached into my bag without looking. Big mistake! When I whipped out the bill, out flew a tampon that I had also stowed away for emergencies. Yikes! I dropped the bill on the counter, calling out “keep the change” as I ran out of the store completely mortified. Lesson learned.

Man vs. Tampons

Oddly enough, men seem to find tampons and the whole subject of feminine hygiene equally uncomfortable. Here is a cute, short video which explains how most men view tampons.

This is interesting because most women do not think that it is a great feeling!

iPads and the iTampon

Apple recently came out with the iPad and the jokes STILL have been running. So much in fact, that #iTampon or iTampon is still a trending topic on twitter!

Apple's iPad announcement earlier this afternoon prompted a score of WTFing across the internet, prompting many to ask, "Are there any women on Apple's marketing team?" Answer: Apparently not. (Period.)

The Truth About TSS and Organics!

Now that you are not so squeamish, on a more serious note, feminine hygiene is a very serious issue. This is because the products women use are coming in direct contact with their reproductive organs.  The number of women afflicted with cancer in their reproductive areas are rapidly on the rise. While the “conventional” or chemical companies, think they are doing you a favor by shoving pamphlets about TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) they are NOT doing you any favors. These products contain chemicals which are highly absorbent so that they can soak up as much fluid as possible. This is NOT a good thing. When women use these kinds of products, they are exposing themselves directly to these harsh chemicals. Where is the handy little pamphlet about that? Unfortunately, there is none. This is exactly why women need to be told about these products and should only buy organic products such as Natracare.
