Butterflies represent change. They go from a small egg to a caterpillar to a magnanimous creature that is the epitome of beauty! Here is a great little video that shows you what they go through. It is an excellent video to show kids because it is something that will capture their brief attention while they learn more about their extremely important pollinators.

Where have those flowers and butterflies all gone
That science may have staked the future on?
He seems to say the reason why so much
Should come to nothing must be fairly faced.

  1. Gorgeous!! Great video!! Again my kids and their discovery channel have taught me that the Monarchs actually make a trip to the most poisonous mountains of Mexico when the climate changes (freeze). They will always be protected because their environment is so poisonous that humans are forced to stay away! Amazing how Mother Nature takes care of her own!

  2. Butterflies are some of the most beautiful creatures. We have a flurry of them around our various flower beds. Planning to put up a few butterfly houses so I can enjoy them even more! Great animation of the life of a Monarch!

  3. June, Beautiful post and so important.
I love butterflies and more so because change is powerfully demonstrated in what the caterpillar feels is the end of the world, the butterfly knows is the start of a new life.

It’s such an important message we should always think about: No bees or butterflies means so crops, flowers, and life itself would suddenly come to an end.

    May it never happen!!
