Cancer Is Something You Can Survive
According to author, Rosie O’Hara, cancer is not an illness that you can catch and it’s certainly not something you deserve. However, it is something you can survive. In fact, there are so many unknown elements in regards to cancer as far as how it develops and how it is formed that the cure is very complex. Although there has been extensive research to cure cancer as well as a number of options for treatment, in many cases, the slightest mention of the disease strikes terror in our hearts. Some families find it easy to talk about cancer. By sharing their feelings about the changes that cancer brings to their lives they find it therapeutic. Unfortunately for many, it is a difficult and awkward subject. The disease takes a huge toll on an individual emotionally as well as friends, family and anyone close to the patient. Hence, dealing with cancer emotionally is just as challenging as battling the disease.
An Approach To Life
Neuro linguistic programming (NLP) is an approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy. The title refers to a stated connection between the neurological processes (“neuro”), language (“linguistic”), and behavioural patterns that have been learned through experience (“programming”). NLP is capable of providing people with resources that they need to cope with every circumstance. Especially the difficult times in our lives that change who we are, how we live and the decisions we make.
Rosie’s Personal Journey Surviving Breast Cancer
No More Bingo Dresses is Rosie O’Hara’s personal dialogue about her experience with breast cancer. It is refreshingly different from other related personal journals. In this book, you will not find the typical tales of self-pity, sorrow and sadness but words of inspiration. Using NLP techniques, will be of interest to patients, professionals, relatives, NLP practitioners and more. Through the book you experience Rosie’s passion for conveying the importance of developing and maintaining a positive attitude, and she details how she used NLP techniques so that others may feel encouraged to model her approach. Rosie shows determination throughout her journey, which is more than matched by her wicked sense of humor. No More Bingo Dresses is a book that will empower those who are facing this journey.
A Message From The Author
Originally working in mechanical engineering, then lots of other things along the way, I’ve been divorced once (he wasn’t a nice guy), I’ve been widowed once (he died as a result of an inoperable brain tumour). Then in 1994 I came across NLP and was interested in using NLP in teaching German to children. Born in Nottingham, England, with an Irish name and speaking fluent German and English I live in Forres a pretty little town on the Moray Coast (between Inverness and Elgin) at the start of the Speyside Whisky Trail, with my now husband Jim (both of whose previous wives died as a result of cancer). Since 2005 I’ve been a double accredited trainer of NLP and I train others to use this stuff, and I believe I ought to walk my talk.
In January 2009 I came back from a holiday in Spain to ‘get away from it all’ and the next day a brown envelope flattered onto the door mat. I had work to do so I rearranged the appointment to suit me and my work. Little did I know that this brown envelope was about to change the course of my year (possibly our lives, read on). The envelope ‘invited me’ to attend the Breast Care Centre the next Monday (this was Thursday!) for a range of possibilities, some of which sounded, well not very nice.
I had a little breast cancer – really? ‘$@#&’. Hello Jim… we need to talk! Since then I’ve published my second book – No More Bingo Dresses, handmade a proper Scottish kilt, been to Egypt and Morocco, started another company and almost finished writing book. Last year we got married. We have 8 grandchildren between us and we’re not lucky – we have lots of NLP around.
