Here is an easy and inexpensive favorite recipe made with all organic ingredients that is fun to make with kids. Teaching children how to cook and bake is something that will last a lifetime! It is important to teach children how to properly measure and mix ingredients. They will have a lot of fun doing this and can then enjoy the donuts with their friends afterwards!

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large bowl, mix thoroughly, all of the dry ingredients together. Set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with a whisk so they are light and fluffy.
  3. In the same bowl as the eggs, add the butter and milk.
  4. Take the large bowl of dry ingredients and shape the ingredients to form a hill.
  5. Take a spoon and create a small well in the center of the hill.
  6. Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture. The dough will begin to form and create clumps of dough. When the wet ingredients have been fully incorporated into the dry ingredients, form into the shape of a ball and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate dough for a minimum of one hour. You can make this the night before but you must use the dough within 12 hours of making it for best results.
  7. After dough has been refrigerated, put on a floured surface. Divide the dough into two parts. With a floured rolling pin, roll out the dough so it is approximately ½ inch thick.
  8. Note: You can roll the dough to ¼ inch but they will come out hard and crunchy.
  9. If you don’t have a proper donut or biscuit cutter, you can simply take a floured round cup and press into the dough creating the donut shape. You can invert a champagne glass to cut out the donut hole. Set the donuts aside on a floured board until all donuts have been made.
  10. On the stove top, heat 1 1-2 inch of oil in a large metal skillet and heat to 360 degrees Fahrenheit or 182.222 Celsius.
  11. Gently drop the donuts into the oil. Be very careful not to burn yourself. Once the donuts turn brown, using tongs, flip them over.
  12. Once the donuts are golden brown, remove them from the oil and place on a baking rack lined with brown paper towels.
  13. Make sure you allow the oil to get back up to 360 degrees before you add new donuts.
  14. Fry all of the donut holes together.
  15. Once all of the donuts have been fried, you can sprinkle them with powdered sugar or enjoy just as they are! Store in a cool dry place. Serve with love!
