===The Neonicotinoid View: Peter Jenkins Discusses EPA Lawsuit - Apr 03,2013===

2012 is clearly going to be a significant year. Many people believe that this is going to be THE year when something significant happens. During the last few years, there were many natural disasters that occurred to be almost routine. The interpretation of the Mayan prophecies indicates that this may in fact be the Apocalypse. In Christianity, Armageddon. Others suggest that the 2012 date marks the end of the world or a similar catastrophe. Scenarios suggested for the end of the world include the arrival of the next solar maximum, or Earths collision with a black hole, passing asteroid or a planet called "Nibiru". On a political note, it is also an election year. Politicians are going to be striking deals left and right to remain in office. Change can occur in either direction, especially since there is such a global economic crisis and no room for novice mistakes. Regardless, of what the belief system is, many people truly believe that these are the end of times whether they are cataclysmic or simply transformative. With all of the hoopla, there seems to be a lot of fear being projected but not much of anything as far as preparation. How exactly can people actually prepare for what is to come? What can people do to brace themselves for extreme weather? Do the predictions from the Ancient Mayans matter? What about the political future of the USA? What about our spiritual blueprints? Will this truly be the end? In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to spiritual healer and wildlife advocate, Laura Lluellyn-Lassiter to talk about what you can expect in 2012. Laura Lassiter is a well known Animal and wildlife advocate, Write, Big Cat Rescue, EARS and CHAART volunteer, Intuitive Counselor, Quantum/Reiki Practitioner. She will be using her unique capabilities to help explain what we can expect during 2012 as well as intuitively address specific issues that are of great concern.

On March 21, 2013, a law suit was filed in Federal District Court against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), for its failure to protect pollinators from dangerous pesticides. The coalition, represented by attorneys for the Center for Food Safety (CFS), seeks suspension of the registrations of insecticides that have repeatedly been identified as highly toxic to honey bees, clear causes of major bee kills and significant contributors to the devastating ongoing mortality of bees known as colony collapse disorder (CCD). The suit challenges EPA's ongoing handling of the pesticides as well as the agency's practice of “conditional registration” and labeling deficiencies. In this special series called “The Neonicotinoid View”, hosts June Stoyer and special guest co-host, Tom Theobald, talk to environmental lawyer, Peter T. Jenkins who will explain why the law suit was filed. Stay tuned! Bio: Peter T. Jenkins is an independent attorney consulting for the Center for Food Safety (CFS) on pesticide impacts. For the last year he has worked for CFS on reversing the regulatory failures that have contributed to the current environmental impacts caused by neonicotinoids. Peter has more than 25 years of experience as an advocate, litigator, policy analyst and consultant in a broad range of environmental and consumer law. He has worked for several major non-profit groups in Washington, DC, and formerly worked for the U.S. Congress, Office of Technology Assessment, Food and Renewable Resources Program. He is a Member of the DC Bar Association. In addition to a JD from the University of Puget Sound Law School, he has a Masters in Environmental Studies from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
